Moreton Bay Women’s Shed held a Clothing and Accessories Fundraiser on Saturday, October 21st, 2023.
It was a casual, enjoyable affair with food and non-alcoholic bubbles and beverages provided a faux fashion show to entertain, and a raffle that was drawn at the end of the event.
The entire event was run by a team of dedicated volunteers. We are very grateful for each and every volunteer and those who contributed clothing, equipment, signage, food and/or beverages for the fundraiser.
Ladies who volunteered for the faux fashion show, ‘put on their party hats’ and walked the catwalk showcasing a selection of clothing and accessories for sale. The faux fashion show – nobody wore the clothing, it was all paraded on hangers – was well received.
Music was ‘Pretty Woman’ by Roy Orbison as we walked the catwalk and attendees clapped to the music. The finale was ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ by Cyndi Lauper.
We played some classical music, Vivaldi ‘Spring’, once the faux fashion show was over and the ladies in attendance had the opportunity to peruse and purchase.
There was a large selection of clothing and accessories available with nothing priced over $20. Accessory items included handbags, costume jewellery, scarves, and a hat. We had a good turnout for the fundraiser as the event was well publicized on our FB page.
A raffle was held and there were a total of four prizes. Three were a toiletries gift pack with a set of earrings and the fourth was a bottle of non-alcoholic bubbles and a wine rack.
The grand total for the fundraiser was $370 with proceeds going towards the purchase of new window coverings for The Shed.
Items not sold were donated to the Strathpine location of Be Uplifted, a breast cancer support charity.
All in all, much merriment was had by the guests in attendance as well as the volunteers and with a good result in terms of profit; we feel the fundraiser was indeed a successful event.
