When you were growing up, did you ever borrow a top or an outfit from one of your friends for a night out?

I distinctly remember borrowing a gorgeous outfit from a friend for a “dress to impress” party and promptly spilling red wine over the white top.
I was mortified and I don’t think my friend ever forgave me!
Fashion is ever-changing but for many of us, the cost can be prohibitive. That’s why “swishing” or clothes swapping parties have become so popular.
Attendees bring clothing and accessories they no longer want and swap them with other people’s items.
It’s a free, easy and fun way to get more life out of your wardrobe and play with fashion. Items for sale are set at a certain amount which makes the whole swapping game fairer.
Earlier this year, a small group of “Swishers” from the Moreton Bay Women’s Shed got together and organised a great clothes swap event at the Shed.
This gave members an opportunity to donate unwanted items as well as purchase clothing, jewellery, scarves and hats for a really reasonable price.
You could say that the MBWS did its bit for the environment by avoiding waste being sent to landfills! It keeps clothes in circulation for longer as well as being price accessible for lots of people.
It was a lot of fun and meant members could update their wardrobe for minimal cost. In fact, the enthusiastic team of “swishers” is planning to host another event on 14 October this year.
